Press, Press, Press, Press On!
Philippians 3: 13-14
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press …
Isaiah 43:18-19
“Remember not the former things; neither consider the things of old. I WILL DO A NEW THING….”
Here’s something to consider: Holding on and/or reminiscing on the past. Rehearsing should’ve, could’ve, would’ve in your mind produces stagnation. God promises you something New. Our heavenly Father knows us best. His word declares that He would withhold no good thing from those who walk upright before him. What he has for us far exceeds what we could ask, think, or imagine.
Consider lot’s wife:
Genesis 19
17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Repeatedly throughout the bible, God instructs us to forget about the past. Looking behind will rob you of the abundant life that God has for you! Out with the old and in with the new.
